This 242-page selection is a collection of 83 sermons, spanning the period 1988 to 2020, selected from many hundred preached over a long career by the Reverend Canon E. T. Malone, Jr., rector for the past ten years at Trinity Episcopal Church, Scotland Neck, N. C. Malone, by virtue of his service as Secretary of the Diocese of North Carolina, Historiographer, Chairman of the Historic Properties Commission, Canon for Publications and Records, and editor of the diocesan newspaper, The Communicant, 1990-2003, traveled widely over the state and has preached in more than 50 Episcopal churches in North Carolina, as well as in South Carolina, Florida, Tennessee, and Costa Rica. A U. S. Army veteran and former daily and weekly print journalist, a published poet, and a former college English instructor, the author brings to bear to his writing the perspective of a teacher and a news writer. A native of Eastern North Carolina from a family with a long history in the ordained ministry of the Episcopal Church, he is both a traditionalist and a progressive. These sermons display a devotion to the Anglican tradition, a respect for the past, and a hope for a future based on the teachings of Christ that respects the dignity of every human being.
