Edited extracts from Journal VI (1912-1915) of the Rt. Rev. Joseph Blount Cheshire, bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina, containing details of his travels and visits to parishes, names of lay people who were his hosts, assisting clergy, and names of over 2,000 individuals he confirmed during those years. It is introduced by a 6-page essay by the compiler, who was Historiographer of the Diocese from 1996-2006. Never before published, this information is not available anywhere else. The index contains over 3,800 entries, including names of churches and communities. Contains details regarding railroad travel, African-American congregations, and additional confirmations Bishop Cheshire performed in East Carolina Diocese during the illness and subsequent death of Bishop Robert Strange. Should be of interest to church historians and genealogists. Contains records of several churches now closed.
